First, as my screen name suggests, I am not a computer expert so please bear with me.
I am pretty discouraged at this point. I am unable to get any access to the Asus GUI. I have tried the following steps:
Attempt 1: Internet router on, full wifi signal, the ASUS router connected to my laptop via ethernet cable and powered on. If I turn on the wifi button on the ASUS I can get the admin log on screen to come up but it will not accept the admin x2 log on. The router is still in its factory setting so I know of no reason why I can't get the log on to take.
If I turn the wifi off or use any of the other configurations below I just get the ASUS web page saying please connect your router by wifi or cable.
ASUS router connected to internet router via cable, but laptop connected to internet via wifi through internet router.
Same as above but laptop connected to ASUS router via ethernet cable
ASUS router connected to internet router via cable (obviously) and as access point to internet via wifi or same with laptop connected by cable.
All of these lead to the ASUS screen saying connect your router via cable or wifi. I can get full internet access through the ASUS router when connected to the Verizon router and I log in.
When I use the default IP (168.1.1. etc) I only get to my Verizon log on screen. I can only get to the ASUS screen via router.asus.
All advice is appreciated.
Its especially frustrating because last month I was able to get into the GUI and I have no idea what I could have changed to prevent me from getting access.
Edit: I can't get the ASUS router to serve as my internet router. I think I would I have to break the lease on my Verizon router.
